On Penhill Crags he tore his rags

Are you coming to see Bartle burn?
Burning Bartle - The Trail
The Bartle Trail was developed in 2005 and seeks to provide a waymarked route of Bartle's progress around and above the village. The trail is marked by a series of mosaics embedded in the stone walls, each created by children and adults from the village.
Regardles of any legends, the trail is an enjoyable 4 mile walk around the village and up onto the slopes of Penhill, offering fine views of Wensleydale and the surroundings
A leaflet is available here (PDF) from the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority.
